Automatically pack blisters and trays in KLT boxes

Sensitive components or those with special surfaces have to be handled particularly gently throughout the entire production process, right up to packaging. Therefore, they are usually provided in individual trays or blisters. Hirata has developed a "packaging cell" for packing these loaded trays or blisters for further transport in KLT-boxes.

This cell has a very compact design and consists of two Hirata palletising systems of the AST series, which are arranged next to each other. One palletiser is responsible for handling the trays or blisters. Here, the empty blisters are fed into the stack in the lower area, separated and brought into the working position, where a SCARA robot fills them with components. Now the filled trays are transported to the transfer position and placed in KLT boxes by a freely programmable, two-axis handling system. The second palletiser also feeds the KLT boxes as a stack, separates them and brings them to the transfer position. If the KLT boxes are loaded with several blisters/trays, the palletiser stacks the loaded KLT boxes again and makes them available for pick-up or for further in-house transport. The tray changing times of the palletisers are less than 5.0 s. By using multiple grippers, cycle times of approx. 0.8 s per component can be achieved. Various buffer elements ensure an autonomy time of the cell of approx. 90 min. and more.

The robot units of the automation cell are controlled via a Hirata controller. The entire cell can easily be controlled by a higher-level PLC controller, such as the Tia Portal from Siemens or a Beckhoff PLC. This makes various data interfaces to the main line possible.
